Roald Amundsen – The Future of Sustainable Expedition Cruising
Roald Amundsen is a next-generation expedition ship, pioneering the future of sustainable travel in remote destinations. As the world’s first hybrid-powered cruise ship, she combines innovation with adventure, offering deep exploration of the polar regions with minimal environmental impact.
Operated by HX Expeditions (formerly Hurtigruten Expeditions), Roald Amundsen is tailor-made for venturing into the untouched landscapes of Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Americas. With just 500 travellers onboard, she offers a small-ship atmosphere with large-scale adventure. Whether navigating the icy fjords of Greenland, crossing the Drake Passage, or exploring the Chilean fjords, every voyage is designed for immersive discovery.
Equipped with advanced hybrid propulsion technology, this state-of-the-art vessel reduces emissions and operates silently in pristine environments. With Zodiac boats for shore landings, kayaking excursions, and onboard scientific research programmes, Roald Amundsen invites you to engage with the natural world in a way few other ships can.
